COSTUME BREAKDOWN AND DYEING TECHNIQUES FOR THEATRE AND FILM workshop

TIMES: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day (includes 30-minute lunch break* and two 15-minute breaks)
LOCATION: Costume Shop and lab
Maximum enrolment: 12 participants

This workshop covers common breakdown and dyeing practices over the course of two days for five hours each day.

About Kim Lennox, Costume Alchemy Inc.
Kim Lennox is a Calgary-based costume breakdown artist and textile artist who has worked in film and theatre since 2011. She graduated from Mount Royal College in 2009 with a diploma in Technical Theatre before continuing her studies in Technical Effects for Performance at the University of the Arts London in England until 2011.
Kim has worked across costume, props and set dec departments with a focus on costume breakdown, dyeing, ageing and distressing. Her film and television credits include Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Interstellar, The Revenant, The Last of Us, Fargo and Hell on Wheels. She also worked in the Creature Shop on Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, working with the costume and textile elements of the production.
In 2025, Kim was part of the Emmy-winning Costume Design team for Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock.
Alongside her industry work, Kim is the founder of Costume Alchemy, a Calgary-based textile studio offering breakdown, sewing and dyeing services, hands-on workshops, and professional costume and textile products. She enjoys sharing the practical techniques she has picked up over the years and making them accessible to other artists, makers and industry professionals.
