Photographer & Videographer – Volunteer or Paid Opportunity
Event Name: KOKUYOSA – North America International Yosakoi Festival
Date: September 27–28, 2025
Location: Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, Lethbridge, Alberta
About KOKUYOSA:
KOKUYOSA is the first-ever international Yosakoi festival in North America, bringing together vibrant dance teams from Canada, Japan, and beyond. This two-day cultural celebration features energetic performances, a colorful parade, and a unique blend of traditional and modern Japanese culture.
Opportunity Overview:
We are seeking a photographer and videographer (can be the same person, a team, or separate individuals) to capture the energy, diversity, and spirit of the festival. This opportunity is open to both students and experienced professionals. Most importantly, we are looking for someone passionate about taking great photos and videos.
As the festival is organized by Kaede Cultural Society, a registered non-profit organization, we operate with a limited budget. We welcome applicants who are willing to volunteer their talents for the community or work within our modest budget.
If you have a drone and are licensed or able to capture aerial footage, this is highly preferred and will be considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities:
- Capture high-quality candid and posed shots of performers, audience, and atmosphere.
- Record video of key performances, the parade, and opening/closing ceremonies.
- Provide edited photos (both high-resolution and web-ready) and an edited highlight video within 2–4 weeks of the event.
- Work collaboratively with event organizers and follow the event schedule.
- Bring your own equipment (camera, lenses, lighting if needed, backup gear, etc.).
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with live event photography and/or videography, particularly at festivals or cultural events.
- Drone photography and videography experience (preferred).
- Ability to work outdoors in potentially fast-paced conditions.
- Professional, reliable, and respectful of performers and guests.
- Portfolio of previous work required.
Application Deadline: 2025-07-31
