Faculty of Fine Arts Volunteer Opportunities

University Theatres Usher

Contact: Amanda Berg

Sign up at the U of L Box Office (Level 5 Centre for the Arts) to usher for all Faculty of Fine Arts ticketed productions or concerts. Ushers can see the show for free! Sign-up starts at the beginning of each term and is open until all usher spots are filled. Ushers are expected to arrive one hour prior to showtime to attend an orientation with the Front of House Manager, and will rip tickets, hand out programs and help patrons navigate to their seats. Ushers are expected to stay for the full duration of each performance they've signed up for.

Student for a Day Host

Ongoing

Volunteer Host Form

The Student for a Day program is an opportunity for a current student to host a prospective student interested their Fine Arts program. Being a host would mean having a “shadow” for the day to show/tell them all the wonderful things about your program, attend your classes, answer questions etc. They will also have meetings scheduled with relevant Faculty and/or staff for more detailed questions.  Hosting only occurs October - November and February - March.

For your hard work, we will be providing you and the guest student with a lunch voucher to have lunch on us and a choice of Fine Arts swag! Your time will count as volunteer hours and, you will get a reference letter to help build your resume.

Nikka Yuko International Exhibit Volunteer Opportunity

This Fall, we will be hosting the international exhibit Superlative Artistry of Japan presented by the Japan Foundation, Toronto. We are the only location in Alberta hosting the exhibit before it moves to Vancouver. More information can be found here: Superlative Artistry of Japan – Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (nikkeiplace.org)

As this is a professional-level exhibition, with extensive instructions and materials, we were wondering if any students, interns or staff from the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery (Fine Arts Department) would be interested and available to volunteer and assist us with the setup and takedown of the art pieces. It could be a good educational experience! The exhibition will be hosted inside the new Bunka Centre at Nikka Yuko and will be free for the public to attend.

The dates required would be as follows:

Setup: September 27, 28 29

Exhibit Runs: October 2-15

Takedown: October 16, 17, 18

We can discuss time commitments for each day later depending on availability. As a travelling exhibit, we will have to ensure that the exhibit is packed up and ready to go on schedule.
