Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play, by Anne Washburn

Directed by Pat Chan

Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric musical play, by Anne Washburn is a darkly comic, thought-provoking theatrical experience about survival, storytelling, and cultural memory after collapse. Blending satire and music, it reimagines The Simpsons as post-apocalyptic myth, exploring how art rebuilds community, meaning, and resilience in a fractured world that may reflect our own today.

Washburn’s storytelling also serves as a warning to us and the future generations about what life might look like during and after an apocalypse. It urges us to question whether we are truly prepared for such a future, and whether we should already be preparing for it.

ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell, adapted by Tatty Hennessy

Directed by Nicola Elson

“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely” (Acton).

When the animals of Manor Farm rebel against their human oppressor, they dream of a paradise where all animals are equal. But as the pigs seize control, the noble revolution descends into a chilling dictatorship.

“The animals in the play all look like us. The humans don't look at all like us. Anyone can play any part. Assume good intentions for as long as you can.” (Hennessy)

Strange Country, by Steele Prefontaine

Directed by Morgan Hill

Buried deep in the golden, rolling hills of South Saskatchewan lives the Leduc family. Isolated from the wider world and each other, Emile, Aimee-Belle and their daughter, Odette have been forever changed by the quick death of the Leduc’s oldest daughter, Clementine. Eleven years after her passing, Clementine has returned home–unchanged from the day she was last seen, wanting to be accepted back into her family. Over the course of the night, the Leduc's must decide where to go from here. This prairie gothic drama explores grief and a family at odds when confronted with the unnatural and unexpected. You are now entering Strange Country.

Strange Country will be performed October 7-10, 2026.

Auditions
Auditions for Strange Country will take place early in the Fall 2026 semester.

Bluebirds, by Vern Thiessen

Directed by Cidelle Crawford

Bluebirds, by Governor General's Award-winning Alberta playwright Vern Thiessen, tells the true story of three Canadian Army Medical Corps Nursing Sisters: Katherine Maud Macdonald, Margaret Lowe, and Gladys Mary Wake.

Christy, Maggie, and Bab gave everything and were largely forgotten. Their lives, in the author's words, cross time and space, and the theatrical setting of this story lives in the minds, memories, and hearts of these three women.

In this production, the Nursing Sisters are supported first by each other, but also by the spirits of the men they healed, ancestors, and angels from the other side - as I believe we all are buttressed through the crucibles of our own lives.
