Fall 2022 Next Steps

Once you have decided that you are proceeding with your exchange, please follow the next steps.

Always quote your name and uLethbridge ID number in all of your email to ensure a quick response.

Apply for your study permit/visa using your Letter of Acceptance and Exchange Student Letter as soon as you are confident that you are travelling to Canada.

UPDATE:  Travellers who are fully vaccinated and studying for less than 6 months can now enter Canada on a eTA (electronic travel authorization).  Please see details here.

You will need to use Microsoft Teams 

  • to book virtual appointments
  • to answer calls if you are required to quarantine

The Bridge is a website which allows you to access your personal information, search for courses, add and drop courses, view your student account for assessment of fees, and view your grades and transcripts.  Please ensure that you have set up your username and password.

You will register in your courses through the Education Abroad Coordinator - Incoming.  Registration will begin in June.  Instructions will be provided via Zoom.

If you have a disability that affects your learning and academic success and are looking for information on how to receive academic support, visit the Accommocated Learning Centre.  You will need to register with the Accommodated Learning Centre and provide medical documentation.

Once you have receeived your study permit approval, book your flight to Canada.  

From Calgary to Lethbridge, you can fly WestJet or book the Red Arrow Bus.  Please note that the Red Arrow Bus does not run every day.

Classes begin September 7, 2022, and you must be in Lethbridge on September 6, 2022.

If you are not fully vaccinated with one of the approved vaccinations (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen), then you will be required to quarantine for 14 days, so plan your flight accordingly.

Zoom sessions will be offered on how to complete the 'Quarantine Plan for Exchange Students'

Review the quarantine requirements and submit quarantine plan to incoming@uleth.ca

After reviewing your quarantine plan, the International Office will issue you a Letter of Support.

Vaccination document must be submitted with the quarantine plan.

The Government of Canada accepts Pfizer (2 doses), Moderna (2 doses), AstraZeneca (2 doses) and Janssen (single dose).  

Vaccination document must be in English or French.  If the vaccination document is not in English or French, a certified translation is required.

Once you receive your study permit approval, please email incoming@uleth.ca with the documentation.

We are interested in your safe arrival in Lethbridge and request that you provide us with the details of your arrival in Canada and Lethbridge.  Please email your Arrival Form to incoming@uleth.ca.

Purchase health insurance coverage in your home country before departure.  It is mandatory for all students to have proper health coverage.

Email an English copy of your health insurance to incoming@uleth.ca 

If you would like to purchase insurance through a Canadian insurance company, visit : https://www.studyinsured.com/studentvip/en/category/international-students/compare

They are 3 options Silver ($2.00 per day), Gold ($2.25 per day) and Platinum ($3.13 per day). Once purchased, you will receive confirmation of coverage e-mail and welcome package. You will determine the start and end date for coverage. These plans all provide up to 2 million in medical care coverage while in Canada.

All ID card requests must be submitted online.  In-person requests are currently not being accepted.

Click here to request an ID card.  A photo (head shot with neutral background) must be uploaded with the request.  You may smile in the photo.

Your uLethbridge ID card will be used as your city transit pass (UPass) and other services.

The online pre-arrival orientation is specifically for exchange students to prepare for your arrival in Lethbridge.  A Zoom link will be emailed to each student in August.

New Student Orientation (NSO) is an in-person orientation for all students.  More details will be coming.  It is not mandatory, but it's a wonderful way to learn what to expect and meet other students.
