2025 Learning Management System Review

ULethbridge to continue using Moodle as learning managementsystem

After a comprehensive review of learning management system options, the University of Lethbridge will continue to use Moodle to support teaching and learning across the institution.

From May 2024 through December 2025, the Teaching Centre led a formal review to determine the platform best suited to meet the needs of our community. The process included extensive technical evaluation, hands-on testing and consultation with academic staff and students.

As part of the review, alternative systems were piloted in select courses. Feedback was gathered from instructors and students who participated in these pilots, and this input, along with broader feedback from academic staff, played an important role in informing the final decision. After reviewing the available data, the Teaching and Innovation Advisory Council recommended to the Office of the Provost that the University continue using Moodle. This recommendation has been accepted.

Thank you to the academic staff and students who contributed their time, expertise, and feedback throughout this process. Your engagement was essential in ensuring the selected learning management system reflects the needs of our teaching and learningcommunity.

Looking ahead, the Teaching Centre will continue working on enhancements to the Moodle platform and remains committed to supporting academic staff in its effective use.

If you have any questions about the Learning Management System Review or the data collected, please contact the teachingcentre@uleth.ca for more information.
