Next Steps for Graduate Students

Starting Your Program

Registration Guide

The most important thing to do before the start of each term is register! As a graduate student, you need to maintain continuous registration for the 12 months of the academic year, which is comprised of three terms (Summer, Spring, and Fall), throughout your program.

Graduate Student Orientation (GSO) Resources

In response to our growing and increasingly diverse graduate student body, the School of Graduate Studies has launched a pilot, optional orientation course for all graduate students. This course has been designed to orient our incoming graduate students to the University of Lethbridge, and what graduate studies means at ULethbridge. The SGS team has worked to collect information and resources that answer frequently asked questions and common concerns of our new graduate students and transfer it into one course that students can easily access through their Moodle Dashboard. The course can be found on Moodle under Long Term Courses. While this course has been designed for new graduate students, continuing students may also find value in utilizing this resource!

Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Information about ULethbridge as an institution
  • Common terminology graduate students will hear
  • Information about funding, scholarships and awards, and GA employment
  • An introduction to the Graduate Peer Mentor program
  • A list of student services graduate students have access to
  • Information about living in Lethbridge for those new to the city
  • Introduction to professional development and career literacy
  • How to get involved in the graduate student and ULethbridge community

Watch your inbox for details about the upcoming Welcome Events held in collaboration with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) in September and January, please note this event will take place on our Lethbridge Campus. Additionally, you will find The SGS Graduate Student Hub with resources continuously added and updated to support your success as a graduate student and beyond.
