Welcome to Your New Journey!

Embarking on a new role as an educator can be both exciting and challenging. Your Teaching Centre welcomes and supports you as you begin this rewarding chapter at the University of Lethbridge! To help you settle in and thrive at the University of Lethbridge, we host a comprehensive New Educator Orientation. This event is designed specifically for new faculty, instructors, and sessional instructors, providing vital information and resources to support their teaching journey. New hires should automatically receive an email invitation to register for the New Educator Orientation. 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Networking Opportunity (bring your own lunch)
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Learning Management and Teaching Software Session for New Instructors
Orientation takes place simultaneously with our Calgary Campus. If you are attending from the Calgary campus (room number TBA), our colleague, Adriana Monterio Lima (adriana.monteirolima@uleth.ca), will be there to guide you through the process.

Morning Session 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Engaging Networking Opportunities
Meet and connect with your Teaching Centre, fellow new hires, faculty, and staff in a welcoming environment. This is a fantastic chance to build relationships and establish a network of colleagues who will support you throughout your tenure at the university.
Invaluable Support and Resources
During the orientation, you will learn about the variety of support groups and resources available for both you and your students. Understanding these resources early on can significantly enhance your teaching experience and student engagement. Participants will receive a digital brochure that includes resources and information offered at the Orientation.
Understanding University Policies
Gain insights into important teaching policies and procedures at the University of Lethbridge. This session is crucial for ensuring you are well-informed about the academic environment and the expectations that come with your new position.
Lunch 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Please bring your lunch and spend midday with us, where you can network with other participants.
Afternoon Session - Moodle Basics & other Teaching Tools 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Recognizing the importance of technology in education, we are also offering an optional hands-on session in the afternoon. This session will focus on essential tools such as Moodle, Zoom, YuJa, and ePoll, equipping you with information regarding teaching tools available, needed to navigate the university's Learning Management System and other teaching software. Participants bring their own laptops for a more engaging experience.
