Examples of Integrating AI into Assessment

From ULethbridge

EDUC 3501 Term Project

From Brent Saccucci, Assistant Teaching Professor of Education.

For this project, students are asked to learn one 'unit' of material, document and then develop lessons. They can use AI to whatever level they feel appropriate based on their own AI academic integrity policies in their grade contracts, and have to explain why they’ve chosen to use/not use AI in that way. Note that AI was also used by Brent to create visuals for the project explanation.

Writing 1000 Position Paper Group Project

From Adriana Lima , Academic Writing Instructor/ Writing Centre Coordinator, University of Lethbridge, Calgary Campus

This is a group project centred on developing a position paper on the ethical uses of AI in higher education. It requires peer collaboration and support from credible evidence as well as persuasive writing. The project consists of a position paper proposal, as well as the position paper itself. Adriana employs the University of New South Wales Levels of AI Assistance (Term 3 2026) to communicate with her students about the appropriate level of AI use for this project. In this case, the students are allowed level 4: Assistance with Attribution where students have to document how AI was used to collaborate.
