The Students' Union offers many essential services to students, addressing students’ needs and representing students at all political levels. Learn more information on the additional services the SU provides for students, or find out how to get involved.

SU Health and Dental

The Students’ Union provides an affordable health and dental insurance plan designed to help full-time students maintain a basic level of health while pursuing their studies. All full-time students are automatically enrolled in the plan and assessed the fee. The Students' Union Health and Dental Plan are mandatory.

If you are covered under an alternate extended Health and Dental Plan, you must go to the Students’ Union Health and Dental Plan Office (SU180) and OPT-OUT before the deadline or you will be charged for a full year of coverage.

For more information, contact the Students' Union office at 403-329-2039.

UPass

The Universal Transit Pass (UPass) gives students enrolled at the University of Lethbridge unlimited access to local transit during each term they are registered for classes. It is an environmentally friendly, cost-effective and safe way to navigate Lethbridge.

The UPass fee is assessed each term and the cost is equivalent to a one-month Lethbridge Transit adult pass. Currently, this is $77.00 plus a $5.00 administration fee. The total cost of a four-month term UPass is $82.00. The charge will appear on your student account on the Bridge.

* Note: A Lethbridge Transit post-secondary term (four-month) pass is currently priced at $289.00, reducing the cost of a pass by $207.00 each term!

Learn more about UPass.

Scholarships

The Students' Union provides $226,000 in scholarships and bursaries each year uLethbridge students. These scholarships have a wide range of qualifications to accommodate as many students as possible. Applications for these scholarships are available from the Scholarships and Student Finance office, room AH151.

Committee Opportunities

The Students’ Union consists of approximately 50 committees filled every year with dedicated student volunteers. Being a student volunteer on a committee is a great way to understand the workings and personalities of the University and may qualify you for more scholarships. Volunteer committee experience shows possible future employers that you are committed, engaged and willing to volunteer your time to help others.

Events

The Students' Union hosts many different events throughout the year. These events range from speakers to Zoo events (such as cabarets), theme week activities meetings and government campaigns. Check out the Events Calendar.

Fresh Fest

The Students’ Union is proud to bring a unique welcome event for uLethbridge students, Fresh Fest, to campus during the first week of classes. You will participate in huge events and gain access to Fresh U Jamboree, the largest outdoor music festival in Lethbridge. This six-hour concert comes complete with food stands, shopping, and beer gardens and features the freshest bands from Alberta, Canada and beyond. Tickets must be purchased for Fresh Fest events, and it's best to do so early, as this amazing event fills up fast!

Recycling

The University of Lethbridge purchased over a hundred bright blue recycling bins with the words "Recycle and Support Student Scholarships" on the side. These bins can be found across campus and they gather over 200,000 empty pop, juice, and water bottles throughout the year. The money gained from recycling these containers is then donated by the Students' Union into student scholarship dollars.

Rockerman’s Service Centre

An on-campus convenience store located in the Students’ Union building food court that provides (in addition to excellent slurpees) bus passes, faxing services, photocopying services, phone cards, access to microwaves, and more.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
