Don't have prior computational experience? Expand your knowledge and skills in computer science and programming using Unix systems, algorithms, data structures, string manipulation, basic concepts of software development and programming languages.

Have a background in computer science? Learn basic concepts of biological and genetic information and master further data analysis skills in a focused topic area, such as bioinformatic algorithms, genomics and medical informatics. You'll also demonstrate competency with programming languages.

Biosystems and Biodiversity is a multidisciplinary program emphasizing organisms' interactions with both biotic and abiotic components of their environments. Areas of research include animal ecology, plant ecology, microbial ecology, parasitology, molecular systematics, biogeography, physiological ecology, remote sensing, environmental genetics, toxicology, developmental biology, phytochemistry and plant physiology. In their programs, researchers use a wide range of techniques to study an array of organisms, including animals, plants, bacteria and fungi. The MFA Dramatic Arts program offers graduate students the opportunity to explore innovative approaches to theatre production and performance including traditional theatre disciplines, as well as interdisciplinary artistic projects. The expertise of faculty members within the Department includes design, performance, technical production, and theatre history.

This program prepares students for positions in both the private and public sectors and for further academic training. The program is typically completed in 24 months or less and contains rigorous training in microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, and econometrics, as well as elective courses in a range of applied fields.

The MA (Education) is a research-based program intended for individuals wishing to focus on a specific research question. Typically, this would involve theoretical, versus classroom-based, research in the area of education.

We examine history, culture, psychology, sociology, philosophy, and the human condition to determine what a text means in the context of when and where it was written, and how it relates to us today.

Environmental scientists study the impact of human interactions on the biosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and atmosphere using an interdisciplinary and integrative approach. They provide us with the information we need to address some of the most pressing issues facing humanity today — such as climate change and the loss of biodiversity.

The Finance major studies financial markets, financial instruments, and investment decision-making and analyzes alternative methods of obtaining, managing, and using capital. Finance incorporates basic economics, accounting and statistics in simple and complex mathematical models to simplify and study the economic reality of financing business and investments.

The MSc Health Sciences - Public Health Specialization program builds on the success of our undergraduate Public Health BHSc. The program has been designed to give students the advanced skills they need for competitive entry into the public health workforce as program managers, program evaluators, infectious disease control analysts, and policy analysts, among other positions, and also provides excellent preparation for a health-related Ph.D.

This program provides basic management knowledge for practitioners and entry-level managers in the health sector. The focus is on providing students with the knowledge necessary to enter a management position in the Canadian healthcare system.

Our new Master of Management (MMgt) program, offered at the Calgary campus, provides the perfect opportunity for recent graduates and early-career professionals with less than 5 years of post-degree work experience from a non-business degree to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities seen as important to succeed in supervisory, managerial and leadership roles.

Marketing involves creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large. Our faculty specializes in applying marketing techniques to encourage behaviour change that will benefit individuals and society.

The MSc program is 24 months for full-time students and 48 months for part-time students. The format for the degree consists of at least 3 graduate level courses and a thesis. All students will take Algebra (Math 5405), Analysis (Math 5505), and a third course. In some cases, a student may be required to include undergraduate courses as well, if additional background preparation is required.

The Music Department offers a thesis-based Master of Arts with a specialization in musicology, ethnomusicology, music theory, and the digital audio arts. The MA program provides students with the opportunity to develop a specialized research project, while critically engaging with innovative, interdisciplinary music scholarship. The MA program strives to produce outstanding scholars, educators, and professionals whose research addresses the political, social, historical, and technological contexts that inform music practices and their meanings.

The Master of Music (M.Mus.) degree program is a two-year, full-time program of applied and academic study. The program offers students the opportunity to pursue graduate study in performance or composition, and to join a dynamic community of experienced and active professional musicians and scholars.

We offer a research-based training program. Graduate students work closely with faculty on research projects, learning how to design, conduct, analyze experiments.

Research topics in our department are diverse, including animal social behavior, learning and memory, decision making, addiction, developmental plasticity (including the effects of brain injury, stress and drugs on brain development), neural coding, motor control, comparative neuroanatomy, comparative behavioural analysis, attention, and robotics.

As a smaller program, the research-based MA in New Media offers an exceptional level of interaction with faculty.

The MFA New Media program provides graduate students the opportunity to explore innovative approaches to digital art and design through theoretical and practical scholarship. As a smaller program with high caliber students and first-rate digital facilities, the MFA in New Media offers an exceptional level of interaction with faculty who are practicing artists, designers, and scholars engaged in extensive collaboration and interdisciplinary research and production.

The purpose of this program is to meet the demand for an accessible and relevant Master of Nursing (MN) degree that addresses the needs of adult learners in the nursing profession who wish to continue life-long learning, gain additional credentials, and become leaders in nursing practice, education and research. Students will choose to complete a course-based, a project, or a thesis pathway.

The Nursing major in the Master of Science program provides students with solid groundwork in conducting nursing research. It also establishes a foundation regarding the uptake of knowledge (knowledge transference) to clinical practice.

The Policy & Strategy major focuses on for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and their industrial and institutional environments, organizational ecology, inter-organizational networks, organizational and institutional change,strategic choice and implementation, top management team dynamics, corporate governance and other subjects.

The Political Science major offers flexibility and an individualized program of study. Students typically complete between three and six graduate-level courses, usually through independent studies or by sitting in on 4000-level undergraduate courses and completing additional work.

The MSc in Remote Sensing enables students to develop advanced research skills in remote sensing. The objective of the program is to accommodate students interested in studying aspects of remote sensing that are not contained in the geographical research domain. These students are often interested in the physics of remote sensing, radiative transfer, and atmospheric remote sensing, or have backgrounds outside of the discipline of geography.

Urban & Regional Studies (URS) delves into the physical, social, economic and political factors that shape our cities. It looks at the role of planning to manage dynamic forces of change such as immigration, global warming, aging populations, energy conservation, congestion, urban forests, homelessness and smog, to name just a few. Issues include the evolving social, ethnic and architectural character of urban neighbourhoods, the decline of agricultural service centres in the west or the governance of urban sprawl.
