Canada-Alberta Workforce Resilience Initiative
Overview
The Canada-Alberta Workforce Resilience Initiative provides funding to employers, industry associations and communities in sectors operating in a shifting global trade environment through two streams:
- Workforce Planning – supports sectors and communities to develop strategies for workforce transitions and transformation
- Employer-led Training – supports employer and industry association sectors operating in shifting global trade environments to train employed workers.
Funding for this program is provided in part by the Government of Canada through the Canada-Alberta Workforce Tariff Response.
Workforce Planning Grant
The Workforce Planning Grant provides funding to help employers and industry better understand their current workforce, identify future skills needs and plan for training aligned with labour market demand.
Eligible applicants:
- Community economic development organizations
- Employer organization (including chamber of commerce)
- For-profit businesses
Industry / sector associations
Eligible trade exposed and impacted sectors include:
- agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting
- manufacturing
- mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction
- transportation and warehousing
- wholesale trade
