Co-operative Education at the University of Lethbridge combines academic learning with workplace experience. Through Co-op, you'll explore career options, develop professional skills, build your network, and gain valuable experiences before graduation.
Co-op is available to students in:
- Accounting
- Post-Bachelor Certificate in Accounting Fundamentals
- Post-Bachelor Combined Certificates in Accounting
- Advanced Accounting Certificate
- NOTE: International students can ONLY do Co-op in 2 of the certificates (Post-Bachelor Certificate in Accounting Fundamentals and Post-Bachelor Combined Certificates in Accounting) but not the Advanced Accounting Certificate. Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and those with refugee status can do Co-op in all three certificates.

Getting Started
1. Apply to Co-op
Submit your Co-op Application through MyExperience
We recommend applying early, ideally during your first or second year. Many employers recruit students 4 to 8 months before a work term begins.
To participate in Co-op, you must:
- Be a registered University of Lethbridge student.
- Meet the minimum GPA requirement for your program.
- Have sufficient courses remaining in your degree to complete a Co-op work term.

Admission is based on cumulative GPA. Transfer students may be assessed using their transfer GPA.
2. Complete the Co-op Admission Course
After your application is approved, you will be enrolled in the online Co-op Admission Course in Moodle.
What to Expect
- The course is fully asynchronous and can be completed on your own schedule.
- Course access is provided each semester.
- You must complete all required activities before the course deadline.
- Co-op agreements and required forms are completed within the course.
- The course will help you understand:
- How Co-op works
- Program expectations
- Professional job search strategies
- Resume and cover letter development
- How to prepare for Co-op recruitment
Important: Complete the course as early as possible. Employers often begin recruiting months before work terms start.
3. Access Co-op Opportunities
After successfully completing the Co-op Admission Course, you'll receive access to the Co-op program, including:
- The Co-op Job Board
- Exclusive Co-op job postings
- Career development resources
- Resume and cover letter support
- Interview preparation
- Co-op advising
Remember: The earlier you enter the program, the more opportunities you'll be able to access.
International and Graduate Students
International and graduate students have additional requirements as part of the Co-op admission process.
International Students
International students must meet all work authorization requirements before participating in a Co-op work term. Review the International Students Co-op Process for important information about permits and eligibility.
International Students Co-op Process
Graduate Students
Graduate students are required to obtain approval from their graduate supervisor to participate in Co-op. We encourage you to discuss your Co-op plans with your supervisor before applying.
After you submit your Co-op application, a Graduate Supervisor Approval Form will be sent to you. The completed form, signed by your supervisor, must be received before you can participate in the Co-op program.

Fees
There is no fee to apply to the Co-op program or complete the Co-op Admission Course.
Co-op work terms are registered as academic courses (not for credit) and are assessed for applicable tuition and fees.
