Areas to support

The Abbondànza Scholarship Endowment Fund embodies a commitment to nurturing the future of fine arts education. Now entering its third decade, Abbondànza, meaning 'abundance' in Italian, has grown as an endowment for student scholarships. Since its inception, this fund has gathered the collective generosity of donors, community members, and sponsors, amassing nearly $2 million in support. It is a testament to the passion for the fine arts and higher education that resides within our community. Through their dedication, these individuals have not only created a lasting legacy but also ensured that Abbondanza stands as a beacon of abundance, lighting the path for future artists, and fulfilling a chance for fine art student opportunity.

The Faculty of Fine Arts Annual Fund plays a pivotal role in advancing key aspects of our creative community. Established to address critical needs, the fund serves as a catalyst for progress by directing resources toward programs, groundbreaking research, and crucial student support. From facilitating student awards to acquiring cutting-edge research equipment and supplies, the fund actively fuels innovation and excellence. It also plays a vital role in enhancing program activities to enrich student experiences. The fund orchestrates minor capital purchases with a direct impact on students, while its core flexibility empowers the Dean or fund director to seize diverse opportunities that align with our overarching mission of nurturing artistic growth and academic excellence. In essence, the Faculty of Fine Arts Annual Fund stands as a dynamic force, driving positive transformation within our creative community.

The Dr. Thomas Staples Wind Orchestra Leadership Award empowers undergraduate members of the Wind Orchestra at the University of Lethbridge, fostering their musical growth and leadership potential. This award, named in honour of Dr. Thomas Staples, former Professor of Music and Director of Bands, directly impacts students by recognizing their exceptional musical talent and dedication. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated musical ability and leadership within the Wind Orchestra, providing them with financial support to continue their studies and pursue their musical aspirations. By contributing to the Dr. Thomas Staples Wind Orchestra Leadership Award, donors directly support the next generation of musicians, ensuring that Dr. Staples' legacy of excellence and mentorship continues to inspire future generations of musical leaders.

The Department of Art Student Recognition Awards are a long-standing celebration of Art student success, supporting the talents and skills of students in our Art Department. Established to recognize artistic and academic achievement, the awards highlight excellence in artistic production, intellectual curiosity, innovative research, and creative initiative. Awards encompass all facets of the Department of Art, such as recognition for Excellence in Art History & Museum Studies, Art Studio, Printmaking, Drawing, Spatial Practice, Indigenous Art History and Museum Studies, Indigenous Art Studio, and more. Students are recognized by faculty of the Department of Art during the Annual Art Open House, or at the Faculty of Fine Arts Vibe Fest, showcasing their works and celebrating their success!
