A Taste of Bronze: Lost Wax Method

Experience the art of lost wax bronze casting using the modern casting facilities in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lethbridge. In this very hands-on course, take your ideas from wax to bronze and experience all stages in the casting process.

Students will bring and/or develop a small artwork in wax (to be cast in wax) and then will take these waxes all the way through the lost-wax casting process. They will finish with a patinated, cast bronze piece to take home.

No previous casting experience is required. Minimum age is 18 years old. Please note this is a non-credit course offering.

*Two pounds of bronze is included in the course fee; additional bronze is at a cost of $20 per pound.

Course Dates:

  • Friday, May 9 | 6 - 9 pm
  • Friday, May 16 | 6 - 9 pm
  • Friday, May 23 | 6 - 9 pm
  • Friday, May 30 | 6 - 9 pm
  • Saturday, May 31 | 9 am - 5 pm
  • Sunday, June 1 | 9 am - noon

Maximum course enrolment is 11 participants. This course is subject to cancellation if minimum enrolment is not met.
