The Canada Research Training Awards Suite – Research Travel Supplements
The Canada Research Training Awards Suite – Research Travel Supplements (CRTAS-RTS) provide additional funding to active master’s and doctoral award holders to help offset the costs of undertaking research travel within Canada or outside Canada for a defined period.

Deadline
- June 10
- Should additional funding be available, the agencies may announce a second intake with a deadline of October 10.
Criteria
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a Protected Person as defined under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada)
- Have accepted or currently hold a master’s or doctoral-level award from CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC (including the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship)
- Plan to begin the proposed research travel on or after the application deadline
- Not have previously held or currently hold a Canada Graduate Scholarships – Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement (CGS-MSFSS)
- Not receive the CRTAS-RTS more than once
Application Instructions:
Each agency has its own application form, instructions, and consent forms and care should be taken to ensure that the appropriate form is used. Submit completed applications by the internal deadline to the Graduate Funding Facilitator.
