Resources for Research Participants

If you are a past, current, or prospective participant in research affiliated with ULethbridge and have questions about your participation in the study, please reach out to the ULethbridge Research Ethics Office (research.ethics@uleth.ca) or the UAlberta Research Ethics Office (reoffice@ualberta.ca) for assistance. These offices are independent of the researchers conducting the study.

Participating in Research: Educational Resources

The Panel on Research Ethics is pleased to announce a new set of educational resources to assist people who are participating in research or are considering joining a research study. This material offers information about how the ethics guidance in the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct of Research Involving Humans (TCPS) provides protection for research participants.

TCPS 2 : CORE-22 (Course on Research Ethics)

The TCPS2 is the standard by which the Human Participant Research Committee (HPRC) determines that research protocols involving human participants are ethically acceptable. This free interactive online tutorial is recommended for researchers, students, Research Ethics Board members, research participants, and members of the general public. The tutorial requires a minimum of 3 hours to complete (and can be completed in multiple sittings) and provides a printable Certificate of Completion.
