Reporting units

Animal Care Services

Animal Care Services (ACS) supports animal-based research and teaching endeavours at the University. ACS oversees the Rodent Research Facility in Science Commons, and the Aquatic Research Facility in the Alberta Water and Environmental Science Building.

 

Research and Innovation Services (ORIS)

The ORIS team provides a broad range of research-related services including pre- and post-award grant and contract development and management. This includes facilitating the development of competitive research grant applications, reviewing research agreements and contracts, matching researchers with funding opportunities and with potential collaborators, and offering research grants assistance and grant-writing workshops. We facilitate human subject and animal research certification, and provide consulting services on intellectual property protection, commercialization, and knowledge mobilization and translation

 

Office of Postdoctoral Affairs

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs provides advise and coordinates the employment of postdoctoral fellows; grant facilitation and funding opportunities for postdoctoral fellows; development and continuous improvement of policies and processes to support the postdoctoral experience at the U of L.

The Research Support Fund supports a portion of the costs associated with managing the research funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Within the Office of Vice-President (Research) portfolio this includes salaries for staff who provide administrative support for research grants and contracts, ensure compliance with the TCPS2 and CCAC, and assist with knowledge mobilization and intellectual property protection.
