About Us

The University of Lethbridge is a research-intensive, comprehensive institution with an enhanced focus on graduate-level programming.

We are committed to

Elevating research and creative activity

We are committed to preserving the breadth of scholarship that distinguishes our vibrant research community and confirms our unique identity within the Canadian university landscape.

Student training and preparation

We foster an environment that prioritizes student engagement in research in all disciplines and levels of instruction, from undergraduate to graduate studies. We offer experiential learning opportunities to mold our students and postdoctoral fellows to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Community outreach and engagement

We build mutually supportive relationships and partnerships with government, business and community stakeholders to ensure translation from ideas to invention and innovation, to civic engagement, to creative and artistic expression, and to economic and social development.

Strategic Research Plan

The Strategic Research Plan serves as a roadmap to chart the direction and focus of research investments for the University of Lethbridge as we progress in our mission as a comprehensive university.

We facilitate human subject and animal research certification, and provide consulting services on intellectual property protection, commercialization, and knowledge mobilization and translation.

Office of Postdoctoral Affairs

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs provides advise and coordinates the employment of postdoctoral fellows; grant facilitation and funding opportunities for postdoctoral fellows; development and continuous improvement of policies and processes to support the postdoctoral experience at the U of L.

The Research Support Fund supports a portion of the costs associated with managing the research funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Within the Office of Vice-President (Research) portfolio this includes salaries for staff who provide administrative support for research grants and contracts, ensure compliance with the TCPS2 and CCAC, and assist with knowledge mobilization and intellectual property protection.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
