BMus - Music/BEd

Bachelor of Music/ Bachelor of Education

The Music Department at the University of Lethbridge is committed to the development of its students as fully-rounded musicians. Students are provided with thorough training on their chosen instrument, are strengthened by a carefully integrated stream of courses in music theory, history, literature and ear training, and participate in performing ensembles, including wind orchestra, jazz ensemble and choirs.

Areas of concentration:

  • Brass
  • Guitar
  • Percussion
  • Piano
  • Strings
  • Voice
  • Woodwinds

Students interested in teaching junior or senior high school are encouraged to pursue the Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Education degree. This stream provides the strongest background in music, which will allow students to build expertise in the music field, enabling students to take the reins of secondary-level music education.

Minors

A minor is a good way to complement your major, have your interests in another subject area recognized on your official transcript, and expand your employment opportunities. It is an optional component of your degree program that requires a smaller number of courses to complete.

See An Advisor for more information about this.
