AMAAS is committed to supporting media artists in Alberta and as such we have developed a bursary program. The AMAAS Bursary Program will be based on regional equity, media art excellence and accountability. AMAAS will provide cash support for media art related projects , workshops, travel, or education.

This scholarship opportunity supports students studying music, specializing in Choral Music and Music Education. 

 

Applicant must:  

 

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Be studying music, specializing in Choral Music and Music Education.
  • Be enrolled in third year of study or beyond of an undergraduate degree or studying at the graduate level.
  • Be attending University of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, Ambrose University, MacEwan University, Concordia University of Edmonton or The King’s University.
  • Demonstrate a choral background, passion for teaching, music education for youth and leadership in choral conducting.
  • Provide one letter of reference. 

 

One award valued at $1,000, applied directly to tuition.

Applications are open for the 7th Corneille Competition, the International Baroque Vocal Competition of Normandy.  Held every two years at the Chapelle Corneille in Rouen, the next Competition will be held from 24 to 28 September 2025.

We have the great honor to announce that in 2025 the jury will be presided by Dame Felicity Lott. Several prizes will be granted (€4,000, €2,000, €1,000).

The Competition is open to candidates born after 1 January 1995.  Entries are open until 24 June 2025 inclusive and pre-selection is based on video recordings.

Previous competitions have honoured talented young singers such as Emilia Bertolini (Australia, 1st Prize 2023), Richard Pittsinger (États Unis, Prix Jeunes Talents 2023), Shira Patchornik (Israel, 1st prize 2021), Johanna Falkinger (Austria, 2nd prize 2021), William Shelton (France, Prix du Public and Prix Jeunes Talents 2021), and Julie Roset (France, 2nd prize, Prix du Public, Prix Jeunes Talents 2019).

We look forward to receiving numerous applications and to welcoming the successful young candidates to Rouen (for information, free accommodation in private homes can be arranged).

Announcing the CWS/AMEF Ray McLeod Scholarship!

Scholarship Amount: $500.00

Application Deadline: April 30, 2025

Eligibility:
- Students must be enrolled in an accredited Alberta university
- This is open to undergraduate students entering their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study.
- Students must be a Music Major, and play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument.

This is an award for Canadian students working in visual arts (Applied Arts, Drawing, Multimedia [excluding electronic], Photography, Painting, Print Making or Sculpture).

Applicant must: 

  • Be a Canadian citizen.
  • Be enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at a post-secondary institution in Alberta.
  • Be entering their final year of studies in visual arts (excluding electronic media).
  • Demonstrate good academic standing (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 2.7 or 70%).
  • Provide an artist’s statement and vision, and how this award will be helpful in the applicant’s artistic/academic career.
  • Provide a maximum of eight images of work with accompanying details of title, year, medium and size of each work.
  • Provide two letters of reference (one must be from a studio professor). 

 

One award of approximately $1,000, applied directly to tuition. The deadline to apply is June 1, 2025 at midnight.

The Audio Engineering Society Educational Foundation is dedicated to encouraging the entry of talented students into the profession of audio engineering. 

Since its establishment in 1984, the Foundation has awarded grants for graduate studies to hundreds of exceptional applicants, many of whom have gone on to prominent and successful careers in the profession. 

We offer two types of scholarships: The AESEF Graduate Studies Grants and the Mary Lea Simpson Memorial Scholarship for a Recording Engineering Student.

Applicants must be AES Members.

The Migration Narratives Challenge connects students with migration researchers to transform research into compelling digital stories. This competition is ideal for students in Digital Media, Journalism, Communications, and related fields.

Students will:

  • Collaborate with leading migration researchers
  • Transform complex research into compelling digital stories
  • Receive a $1,000 stipend plus compete for top prizes up to $2,500
  • Build and enhance their professional portfolios
     

Expected deliverables:

  • Creative brief outlining strategy
  • 2-3 minute research video
  • Additional digital piece (social media content, infographic, etc.)

Pianist and vocalist Vicky Oveson was an exceptionally dedicated musician, of tremendous intellect and talent. She held a B.Mus. (distinction) in Theory and Composition and an M.A. in Musicology focusing on Afro-Cuban music. Vicky was an in-demand performer, accompanist, music educator and examiner. Although she was an accomplished classical pianist, her true passion was the music, people, and culture of Cuba. The Vicky Oveson Memorial Award was established in Vicky’s memory to support trailblazing musicians who exemplify leadership, seek continuous improvement, take initiative to create opportunities, and demonstrate tenacity in pursuing their goals.

One award valued at a minimum of $1,000, applied directly to tuition.

Applicant must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be a musician who identifies as a woman.
  • Be enrolled in third year of study or beyond of an undergraduate degree or studying at the graduate level, at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
  • Be studying music, preferably in the jazz world music idiom.
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to the music community, through independent initiative and continuous improvement.

Deadline to apply is May 15 at midnight.

Established in memory of Kirby Morrow, a prominent voice actor and former Vancouver Acting School instructor, to honour his passion for the industry and to help support other young performers pursue their passions. Kirby had a huge impact on so many lives. He lived to give to others. This memorial Scholarship is dedicated to helping dreamers like Kirby get quality education in the Performing Arts. By creating a lasting legacy in his name, maybe some day the Scholarship will help another Kirby from some small town realize their dreams.

Two awards valued at $1,000 each, applied directly to tuition.

Applicant must:

  • Be an Alberta or British Columbia resident.
  • Be entering first or second year of a full-time undergraduate degree or diploma program at an Alberta or British Columbia post-secondary institution in the upcoming academic year.  
  • Be enrolled in a Theatre, Theatre Arts, Drama, Film, Radio, Television, Animation or Script Writing major.
  • Submit a video (3 minutes or less) demonstrating their passion for Theatre, Theatre Arts, Drama, Film, Radio, Television, Animation or Script Writing and how the financial support of this scholarship will help them pursue their dreams.
