Talking About Teaching: Are Your Students Aware of the Hidden Curriculum?

October 26 in AH 100
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

The hidden curriculum refers to the unspoken lessons, values, and behaviors that students learn through their educational experiences. It encompasses norms, beliefs, and social expectations that are not part of the formal curriculum but significantly impact a student's development.

At the next Talking About Teaching event, we will discuss our awareness of the 'hidden curriculum' at UofL and how it can perpetuate social inequalities by providing disparate educational experiences. The hidden curriculum can also create greater academic pressures as students strive to meet all aspects of their courses. Join our discussion moderators: Imarú Baquero (International Centre), Jaime Takahashi (Student Success Centre), and Rebekah Eckert (Academic Writing Program), for a lively discussion that will make you aware of the hidden curriculum as well as possibilities to help students cope with it.
