All students are issued a University of Lethbridge picture ID card, provided they have a valid U of L identification number. Your first card is free; if your card is lost, stolen, or damaged there is a fee of $15.50 to replace it. You can get a new or replacement student ID card from the ITS Solutions Centre (TH218, Turcotte Hall).
Your ID card may be used to access the 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness (gym and aquatic centre), printing, library privileges, and more. Your uLethbridge ID card also includes the UPass feature and can be used to access public transit in Lethbridge. Additionally, Bridgebucks funds may be loaded onto your student ID card, which may be used to purchase food and services at a number of locations, such as: Urban Market, Starbucks, SUBWAY (not Student's Union location), Tim Hortons, Bookstore, Print and Copy, and vending machines.
The University of Lethbridge Library provides access to a large, diverse collection of resources, media and materials. With your valid uLethbridge ID card, you may borrow materials from the library or request an interlibrary loan. You can use the Library’s variety of bookable individual and group learning spaces or the general-use computers and printing stations (though keep in mind that you will need to have Bridgebucks loaded on your ID card to print).
Additionally, Library staff can offer support, instruction, and assistance to meet student’s research needs. Our library even has a handy Guide for International Students. Library staff members are available in-person at the Information and Research Assistance Desk (IRAD), by telephone, or via the online “Ask Us” reference service. You can also book an appointment with a librarian to get help with locating and selecting resources or formatting citations here.
You can buy your textbooks at the University of Lethbridge Bookstore which is located in the Students' Union building (SU210A). You can also find school supplies and stationery, uLethbridge clothing and other merchandise, and a selection of fiction and non-fiction books. Textbooks are expensive, so when purchasing required texts you may want to consider all the possible options and formats to ensure that you are getting the best value deal. The U of L Bookstore offers different options such as textbook rentals, e-books, and used books. The Bookstore also has a website that you can use to compare prices with other retailers; always verify that you are buying the right edition.
Student Enrolment and Registrar Services consists of a number of units which assist students in different areas, such as admission and transfer, course and exam scheduling, graduation applications, withdrawal from courses, and more. Student Enrolment and Registrar Services is also responsible for producing the Academic Calendar and Timetable, maintaining official student records, and issuing transcripts. This office is located on Level 1 of the Students’ Union Building (SU140).
There are some awards and scholarships which are uniquely available to international students, however you are also eligible for most entrance, transfer, and continuing undergraduate awards as a uLethbridge student. You can apply for most awards easily online through your uLethbridge student account on the Bridge. Scholarships for International Students
International Entrance and Continuing Award
As an international student you are automatically considered for this award, which offers up to $1,000 based on academic achievement. For new students entering the University of Lethbridge, minimum transfer GPA will be no less than 3.0 (on a minimum 24 credit hours transferred) and for high school students, admission average will be no less than 70%. Continuing students need a minimum GPA of 3.00 and a 60% course load. Recipients will always be selected by highest to lowest GPA or admission average. There are 70 awards available for new uLethbridge students and 30 awards available for continuing students.
Alexander Barnhill Bursary for International Students
New and continuing international students are eligible to receive this award of $1,000 based on financial need. There are a total of four awards available; two per term. A separate application is required. You can find more information here.
International Relocation Award
Up to $2,000 may be awarded to international students entering any undergraduate degree program or English for Academic Purposes program; students must be relocating to study in-person at any University of Lethbridge campus. No application is required.
International Student Emergency Bursary
Up to $500 may be awarded to international full-time students in good academic standing on the basis of financial need exacerbated by an emergency. Application is required; apply at Scholarships and Student Finance (AH115)
Other Scholarships (available to all uLethbridge undergraduate students)
Board of Governors' Admission Scholarship
$1,000 for actual admission average of 80% or higher. Must submit their application for admission for September admission to uLethbridge by December 15 to be considered.
Board of Governors' Relocation Scholarship
Up to $500 for actual admission average of 80% or higher based on geographic region. Must submit their application for admission for September admission to uLethbridge by December 15 to be considered.
*Our Board of Governors' Admission and Relocation scholarships reward students who apply early to uLethbridge. They may be combined with other uLethbridge awards.
Leadership and Entrance Awards
Up to $6,000 awarded to qualifying students. Separate online awards application required by March 15 for September admission.
Board of Governors' Transfer Scholarship
Up to $1,500 awarded to qualifying new students based on academic achievement. Separate online rewards application required by June 15 for September admission.
Post-Diploma Entrance Scholarship
Up to $1,500 awarded to qualifying students admitted to a post-diploma program based on academic achievement. Separate online awards application required by June 15 for September admission.
New Student Orientation (NSO) is an event that benefits all new students at the University of Lethbridge. The purpose of New Student Orientation is to help familiarize you with the University campus and student life. At NSO, you will get a feel for what will be expected of you as a student, tour the campus, meet with faculty and staff, become familiar with campus resources, and meet other students. Attending NSO is a great way to set yourself up for success as a new uLethbridge student. NSO is free of charge, lunch is provided, and you are welcome to bring a friend or family member.
