Faculty of Fine Arts Volunteer Opportunities

University Theatres Usher

Contact: Amanda Berg

Sign up at the U of L Box Office (Level 5 Centre for the Arts) to usher for all Faculty of Fine Arts ticketed productions or concerts. Ushers can see the show for free! Sign-up starts at the beginning of each term and is open until all usher spots are filled. Ushers are expected to arrive one hour prior to showtime to attend an orientation with the Front of House Manager, and will rip tickets, hand out programs and help patrons navigate to their seats. Ushers are expected to stay for the full duration of each performance they've signed up for.

Student for a Day Host

Ongoing

Volunteer Host Info and Form

The Student for a Day program is an opportunity for a current student to host a prospective student interested their Fine Arts program. Being a host would mean having a “shadow” for the day to show/tell them all the wonderful things about your program, attend your classes, answer questions etc. They will also have meetings scheduled with relevant Faculty and/or staff for more detailed questions. Hosting only occurs October - November and February - March.

External Volunteer Opportunities

The University is not responsible for external opportunities or the content on external websites, which may change without notice.

Galt Museum Volunteers

Ongoing

Now, this is where you come in! We are looking for positive and upbeat volunteers to join our Visitor Services crew! We’re going to need your help assisting customers in the Museum Store and providing basic interpretation of the Galt grounds and exhibit. Other tasks may include completing Visitor Surveys, answering phones, assisting with inventory, stocking shelves and more! We’re hoping that with your help, the Museum Store will continue to grow and strive!

If you like what you hear, have any questions, or would like a little more information, please feel free to contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Chris Roedler, at christopher.roedler@galtmuseum.com or at 403-320-4219. And don’t you worry, any training will be provided. We can’t wait to hear from you!

It is structured to let you focus on the quality of the content while it deals with the exposure of it to an audience of millions. Our current writers range from undergraduates, to graduates, to emeritus professors and a bit of everyone in between. Grab the opportunity and join our team of writers. Join now!

Volunteer at General Stewart Elementary School

General Stewart Elementary School is seeking a music teacher to work on a voluntary basis. If you are a music education student who would like to volunteer and teach music, please reach out as soon as possible. This commitment would not need to be ongoing throughout the year, but could be, if desired.

They are looking for someone to attend the school over the course of a few days, to teach about music in their discipline (i.e. choir, drumming, guitar etc.) . The goal would be to pique students' interest in different kinds of music that their teachers might not be able to expose them to, in a low-pressure environment.

If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please email: Karleen.Burns@lethsd.ab.ca
