HistoriCity Essay Award

Celebrating Excellence in historical research in southern Alberta

$1,500 in prizes

Call for submissions:

  • The competition is open to ALL U of L students in good academic standing at the competition closing date. One entry per student.
  • Submissions must focus on the history of Lethbridge and/or southern Alberta
  • Submitted essays must be part of an independent study or third or fourth year coursework completed at the University of Lethbridge.
  • Students can submit a copy of their essay to Jenny Oseen oseejs@uleth.ca.

Prizes:

  • First prize of $1000
  • Second prize of $500

Entries Due: May 1, 2025

Leading up to the University of Lethbridge's 50th anniversary in 2017, U of L alumnus Terry Whitehead (BA '94) established the HistoriCity Essay Award to encourage excellence in historical research on the City of Lethbridge and the University of Lethbridge.
