International Student Quarantine Bursary

The University of Lethbridge recognizes the additional expense the 3-day mandatory hotel quarantine places on arriving international students. The International Student Quarantine Bursary is intended to assist University of Lethbridge students to meet the hotel quarantine requirement to be available for in-person experiences at our Calgary or Lethbridge campuses. The bursary is open to new and continuing undergraduate and graduate international students (excluding exchange and ELI students) enrolled in full-time studies at the University of Lethbridge in either the Summer 2021 or Fall 2021 terms. Students must have traveled to Canada by air after the federal 3-day mandatory hotel stopover measure was implemented on February 21, 2021. Students must have submitted the required Quarantine Plan to the International Office prior to travelling to Canada to be eligible.

The bursary is available to students as long as the Order-in-Council for the 3-day mandatory hotel stopover measure is in effect. Application for the bursary will cease 2 months after the Order-in-Council is lifted.

Payment of the bursary will be made to the student account upon confirmation of full-time enrolment at the University of Lethbridge and relocation to Canada. Students may only receive this bursary once.

Eligible students must have:

  • travelled to Canada by air after February 21, 2021,
  • stayed in a government-authorized hotel for the mandatory 3-day stopover on arrival, and
  • submitted the Quarantine Plan template to the International Centre.

Please include the following documents with your application form:

  • Boarding pass
  • Hotel receipt received upon check out of your hotel stopover

Value: $500

How to Apply

  1. Download the iCent app and log in.

What is Next

Your application will be processed, and you will be notified by email if you are eligible to receive the bursary. If you are eligible, the $500 bursary will be automatically applied to your uLethbridge Cash Office student account upon confirmation of full-time enrolment after the extended drop deadline of the semester you are enrolled. You will receive an email notification to your University of Lethbridge email account from the Scholarships and Student Finance office which will include payment date and disbursement details.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
