About
Pat Chan is an Actor Trainer, Director and Choreographer. She graduated with an MFA in Directing from the University of Calgary, Canada and an MA in Actor Training and Coaching from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, United Kingdom.
Her recent production works—which includes directing, choreography, and fight directing—was for Harmony the Musical, an original Chinese Canadian musical theatre production, created and performed entirely by a collective of Chinese Calgarian artists. Other directorial work includes Falling Down (whose actor won best performer at the Calgary region, 2025 One-Act Play Festival), Old Mule, Bill C773 (which won the best new original script at the 2023 Calgary Acts Awards), Saya Anak Malaysia (Baru), A Flower’s Promise, MacBeth etc.
Research Interest
Pat’s research focuses on cultural integration, specifically exploring Asian identity within a Western context.
Teaching Philosophy
As an Asian theatre educator, she is committed to racial equity and decolonial approaches to education. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of multiple disciplines, which she has found to be valuable in performance training, creative development, and long-term career sustainability.
