Optimization Research Group (ORG)

Members of the ORG conduct research on algorithms for very large-scale optimization, blockchain technology, approximation algorithms, wireless sensor networks, facility location, vehicular networks, high-performance computing, complex networks, software evolution, combinatorial optimization, and discrete and computational geometry.

Since its inception, the ORG has supervised more than 40 MSc/PhD theses and over 10 undergraduate research assistants. The members are also actively involved in mentoring MITACS GLOBALINK interns, NSERC USRAs, and post-doctoral fellows.

The ORG enjoys strong and active international research collaborations.

The research is funded by NSERC DG, NSERC CRD, NSERC Engage, NSERC Vanier, MITACS, Alberta Innovates, Killam Trusts, and the University of Lethbridge.

The group has co-authored well over 100 peer-reviewed papers in premier conferences and journals, and given numerous invited talks. The group also hosts "The Optimization Seminar Series."  Optimization Seminar Series presentations.

Highly-motivated students interested in research opportunities are encouraged to contact the group members. The group also actively seeks research collaborations in application of optimization techniques to real-world problems.
