Strings of Connections
The goal is for students to feel a sense of belonging and cultural connection by sharing traditional jewelry-making techniques, heritage, and personal stories. International student volunteers will lead mini-workshops, teaching peers how to create cultural crafts while connecting over shared global experiences.
-
LEARN THE TECHNIQUE: Volunteers guide students step-by-step through traditional crafting, beading, or jewelry-making techniques from their home cultures (e.g., custom necklace, bracelets, or rings).
-
SHARE THE STORY: While crafting, volunteers share the cultural significance, history, or personal meaning behind the materials and patterns used.
-
TAKE HOME: Students keep their handmade cultural craft, along with a note card detailing the cultural origin of the piece.
