Black History Month - International Centre Events

International Student Panel on Black History Month
February 17 | 2 -3 p.m. | Zoom

February is Black History Month! What started as a week-long commemoration in 1916, has bloomed into a month-long celebration to honour the legacy of Black people and their communities.

uLethbridge is pleased to be hosting a full month of events to commemorate Black History Month, and the International Centre is hosting a student panel as part of the celebrations. Mark your calendars and register to hear about the stories and experiences of some of our Black students at the University of Lethbridge!

Register for this session!

Panelists:

  • Maleeka Thomas, BA Sociology student from Jamaica
  • Oluwanifemi Oladoye, BSc Biochemistry student from Nigeria

The International Office is curating a playlist to celebrate Black History Month. We have asked our students to suggest songs from their favourite Black artists and will be adding them to the playlist. You can contribute too.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
