Sandra Latrace

As a student-athlete, Sandra’s interests of athletics and art making have merged. Her projects aim to display feats of strength in track, including the absolute sculpting of one’s own body to fiercely challenge others whom are in the same pursuit. Creating the body through paint allows freedom to exaggerate the tension of competition including the physical and psychological stress that athletes’ feel during their performance. Beyond that, her works embody the quiet of pre-competition nerves, the mundanity of maintaining positive habits, and the repose and refueling required of elite athletes.
