Working with the notion of perception, my focus is on the intrinsic nature of meaning created through embodied and repetitive gestures. I am interested in the subtle changes that occur through a series of intuitive marks and the residue left on the surface of a material object. A measured approach encourages thoughtful consideration of how the process of repetition can create new meaning through an inherent motivation, rationale, and intentionality. In my practice, a study of multiples is unified through the use of limited colors, implements, and material surfaces to reveal how a mark, through the action of the handmade, can endure to the passing of time. Within a repeated exploration, intuitive gestures and mark-making take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material practice.
