COURSE REGISTRATION
Now that you have completed your registration plan, it is time to put that plan into action! In this section you will learn how to register for your courses and find answers to your questions. Keep in mind that registering early increases the likelihood of getting into the classes you want.
Summer and Fall registration dates are available on the Bridge on the Registration Status page at the beginning of March. Winter registration dates are available the last week of October. Students will be notified when they can log in to the Bridge to view their personal registration dates. New students' confirmation of admission must be processed before they are assigned a registration date.
There are a few important things to note when you start to register. If you have not completed the admission process, you may be restricted from registering for your courses. You may also find that some of the courses you want are excluded from web registration or are waitlisted.
- In order to register, all outstanding fees must be paid in full, have completed the Sexual Violence Prevention Training, and have no other holds on your account.
- You cannot be waitlisted for courses unless you register during your assigned early registration time period and is not available for all courses.
- To register for a course, all of the components must be included (course, lab, tutorial etc.) and conflict-free of one another. If a component is missing, it will not allow you to register in the course.
- If you accidentally register in multiple sections of the same course, you will be removed from all sections, except the initial section selected. If this error occurs more than once, a hold will be placed on your account. If this happens, simply contact Student Enrolment and Registrar Services (SEARS) for assistance.
- If you are missing course prerequisites, you will be prevented from registering in the course or your registration may be cancelled without notice. In unique circumstances, you may apply for a waiver if you lack the course prerequisites. Please contact your Faculty advising office for more information.
- Please check your Student Schedule to confirm you have successfully enrolled in your classes.
- Review the menu on the left for more detailed information.
Verification of Enrolment letters prove you are enrolled at ULethbridge. The letter may be necessary for loans, insurance, or other services that require proof of enrolment.
If you have questions, don't hesitate to drop by the SEARS office, call 403-320-5700 or email regoffice@uleth.ca.
It is important to pay your fees by the indicated due date. Paying your fees guarantees you have full access to your program, are able to register for future classes and make program status changes.
Be sure to pay your fees on time at the Cash Office either in-person or through online banking. Each term has its own deadlines:
- Fall term | October 1
- Winter term | February 1
- Summer term and all sessions | June 1
The Cash Office accepts most forms of payment excluding credit cards. Visit the Financial Services website for additional information about making payments, including instructions for online banking.
If you are unable to pay your fees by the due date, please contact the Cash Office as your registration may be automatically cancelled.
You will not be able to register using the Bridge if any of the following conditions apply:
- Your admission to ULethbridge has not been finalized.
- You have not confirmed your offer of admission. Please see the Confirmation of Admission page included in your emailed offer letter.
- You are attempting to register outside of your assigned registration dates.
- There are holds on your record.
- Some courses may have Registration Restrictions that must be met. Some examples are Degree, Year of Study, or Major.
Check your status on the Bridge to confirm any of the above issues.
Prerequisite requirements must be met prior to registration. Students without the appropriate prerequisite will be prevented from registration or removed from the course. Students who believe they may have an equivalent prerequisite may apply for a prerequisite waiver by contacting their Faculty advising office for more information.
Courses that require special approval are excluded from web registration. If you attempt to register for these courses, you will receive a response indicating web registration is not available. Courses excluded from web registration include:
- Undergraduate Theses Courses
- Independent Study
- Co-operative Education Work term
- Applied Studies
For more information regarding other courses, check with the faculty offering the course.
