Carmen Madsen

I am a fourth-year student at the University of Lethbridge, working towards my undergraduate degree in Fine Arts - Art Studio. Painting is my passion and the center of my art practice. Within my post-secondary career, I have explored many other mediums, always returning to paint. When creating an artwork, I enjoy exploring the complex relationships of colour, texture, balance, contrast, and paint-handling. Working intuitively is a crucial aspect within my art practice, immersing myself into the process, medium, and my emotions. Currently, I am working towards a series of abstracted works on unconventionally shaped supports, as well as exploring the conversations created through layers of oil paint.
