InSTEM Pre-Camp Information

Information on this page is only for those participating in the InSTEM camp July 4-7, 2023. 

Required Waiver


All participants must have a completed waiver package before the start of camp. Forms must be signed by a parent/guardian and multiple children can be added to a single form. Printed copies can be found at your school's office or download a copy here.

Bus Information


Transportation to and from the University of Lethbridge is provided for our InSTEM campers and chaperones. You have indicated what bus stop you will be using on your registration form. Please be aware that morning drop-off times are firm and the bus will leave without you. There will be an adult chaperone from community on the bus every day, they will also be there to greet you and answer any questions in the morning.

Buses leave the university at 4:00pm each day.

Evening Pick-up between 5:00-5:15 pm

Food & Snacks


Food and snacks are provided for participants throughout the week. A general overview of the week's menu is below. If your child does NOT wish to eat what is provided, please pack and send them with a nut-free alternative.

Swimming


All campers will have the chance to visit the university swimming pool on TUESDAY & THURSDAY afternoons. Please make sure you pack a bathing suit and towel on these days

Swimming Details: 
  • Life jackets are available for non-confident swimmers
  • The shallow-end floor is raised to 2-feet deep
  • EVERYONE (regardless of camp group) will be allowed to swim in the deep-end if they pass the swim test
  • The pool floor is rough, you are welcome to wear swim socks/shoes to avoid cuts 

What to Pack


Backpacks are preferred as they will be carrying them throughout the day and we suggest you do not overpack.

We suggest you bring the following: 

  1. Filled and Labelled Water Bottle
  2. Outdoor clothing
  3. Swimming suit and towel (Tuesday & Thursday)
  4. Sunscreen & hat/cap
  5. Shorts and runners (for outdoor activities)

All other materials for workshops and recreational activities will be provided. Campers may bring individual books or activities to engage with during downtimes, but we ask that all electronics be left at home. Please respect our NUT-FREE environment and do not pack your child with anything that contains nuts. We also discourage the consumption of energy drinks during camp hours.

 

The Nitty Gritty


If the need arises to cancel your child’s camp registration please let us know by calling or texting 403-915-0651.

DE follows the AHS and University guidelines for COVID-19. Masks are not required but are welcome and if your child is sick we ask that they stay home until symptoms clear.
