DE Team & Job Opportunities

Valerie Archibald is the Director of Youth Outreach for the Faculty of Arts & Science. She is responsible for overseeing outreach for the faculty and creating a strong balance with both STEM and Social Science & Humanities outreach. Valerie moved to Lethbridge in 2012 from Fredericton, NB. She has a B.Sc. in Forestry & Environmental Management and a Masters in Youth and Family Studies. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors - camping, swimming, biking, running and enjoying nature.

Steph Elder is our Program Coordinator. She has a degree in Civil Engineering and Management from McMaster University and has been sharing her love for engineering and STEM with youth since 2013. In her spare time, you’ll find her playing her guitar, exploring the area, or just hanging around playing some video games. She’s a kid at heart and isn’t afraid to get a little messy for the sake of science.

Summer Staff 2021

John is an instructor at DE. He is earning a degree in Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge. He has worn many hats, including Robotics Engineer, Programmer, Videographer, Graphic Designer, Chef, Dungeon Master, and Pirate. He likes reading and gaming in his spare time.

Andrea is one of your instructors at DE. She is working towards her Bachelor of Science in General Sciences at the University of Lethbridge. She enjoys working in all fields of science and tries to find fun ways to include STEM in her everyday life (it is a lot easier than you may think). When she has free time, she enjoys crafts and hiking, sometimes even at the same time.

Walker is one of your instructors at DE. He is currently working on obtaining his bachelor of arts & science degree in Kinesiology at the University of Lethbridge. Always interested in science since he was a child, Walker hopes to share his curiosity and love for discovery this summer at DE. In his free time, Walker enjoys being outdoors, exercising, reading, or spending time with his cat ‘Kumar’.

Jamie is one of our instructors. She has a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Lethbridge. She is always bringing fun STEM facts wherever she goes, so don’t be scared to ask her for one. “Fun Fact: You typically only breath through one nostril at a time, every few hours one nostril needs a break and the other will take over”. In her spare time, she can be found roaming in the mountains camping, quadding, and fishing.

Michael is one of your instructors at DE. He is currently working towards a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Education at the University of Lethbridge. He has always been fascinated by science and grew up wanting to be a 'scientist,' and he can't wait to share his love for STEM. He loves playing and watching sports and has even played rugby for Canada.
