University of Calgary

The University of Calgary has a very high performance computing facility available to the University faculty. The system, called the “Alpha” cluster, as of spring 2002, consists of over 200 processors based on Alpha chip technology. See a description of the hardware here and software here.

Since the facility is designed for computationally intensive work, it is necessary that users submit their processing jobs via PBS (Portable Batch System). Interactive sessions for debugging, visualization or other purposes are also possible on machines reserved through PBS.
