Job Opportunities for Students

Physics Assessment Developer

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Lethbridge is seeking undergraduate and graduate students to design and implement questions for the WeBWorK online homework system over the period of May to August of 2019. Several part-time, six-week term positions are available. Successful applicants will be responsible for writing questions for first- and second-year Physics, Astronomy, and Engineering classes on the WeBWorK platform which can be delivered to students as part of regular homework assignments. The terms available are:

  • 2 positions beginning in May and ending in June
  • 2 positions beginning in June and ending in July
  • 2 positions beginning in July and ending in August

Daily schedules are flexible, as are specific start and end dates. Hourly wages range between $15 and $21 per hour, depending on level of education and experience.

Applicants should be current undergraduate or graduate students or recently graduated from the University of Lethbridge, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and experience with first- and second-year Physics, Astronomy, or Engineering courses. Applicants should also possess basic computer programming skills, with a knowledge of languages such as Perl and Java being an asset. Familiarity with LaTeX and the WebWork platform will also be beneficial, although not required.

Applications should include a C.V. and cover letter, which should be addressed to C. Povey, M. Tipper, and K. Vos, RE: OTAT. Submissions can be made to the Physics Department office in person (to Catherine Drenth, E872 University Hall) or by email (physics@uleth.ca) no later than April 30, 2019. Please indicate your preference of term (May-June, June-July, or July-August) in your application.
