Change BMgt to BBA

Can/should I change to the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree?

What else do I need to know about switching to the BBA?

You will need to know your calendar year and your current BMgt program as both of these will change when switching to the BBA and the procedures are different depending on these details.

Calendar Year

Your calendar year is the academic year you were admitted or readmitted to the University of Lethbridge. For example, if you were admitted to the U of L for Fall 2023 or Winter 2024 and have not taken time away from your studies, your calendar year is 2023/2024 and you follow the 2023/2024 Program Planning Guide (PPG). 

If you switch to the BBA program, your academic calendar will change to 2025/2026. As a result, your program requirements may also change, and you may need to complete additional courses.  Please note that the older your current calendar year, the more changes and additional courses you are likely to face when switching to the BBA.

BMgt as a Second DegreeIt is not recommended to change to the BBA degree as the waiver process in the 2025/2026 BBA is more stringent than in previous calendar years so you will likely have additional courses.
Combined Degree with BMgt (ie. BA/BMgt, BSc/BMgt, BFA/BMgt, BHSc/BMgt)
  1. Note the changes to your program/major for the BA, BSc, BFA or BHSc side of your combined degree in the 2025/2026 academic calendar and then confirm the changes with an advisor from the other faculty.
  2. If you have a minor, take note of the 2025/2026 minor requirements as they may differ from your current calendar year. Note: you will need to add back your minor on the Bridge after you have officially switched to the BBA.  
  3. Note the changes to your program/major for the BBA side of your combined degree in the 2025/2026 academic calendar and then confirm the changes with a Dhillon School of Business advisor. An advisor will provide you with the form(s) and instructions for how to make the change to your calendar year and program. Please note that once you change from BMgt to BBA, you cannot change back.

BMgt 40-course or

Post-Diploma BMgt or

Dual Degree BMgt/LLB

  1. If your calendar year is 2021/2022 to 2024/2025, take note of the specific changes to your program, calendar year, and major as shown on the BMgt to BBA Change Summary.
  2. Download the new 2025/2026 BBA Program Planning Guide (PPG) for your program and major. Review it carefully to note the changes from your current PPG and update it with the grades for your completed courses. Your completed courses and grades can be found on your unofficial transcript on the Bridge.
  3. If you have a minor, take note of the 2025/2026 minor requirements as they may differ from your current calendar year. Note: you will need to add back your minor on the Bridge after you have officially switched to the BBA.   
  4. Email your updated 2025/2026 BBA PPG to your campus DSB advising office: Calgary campusORLethbridge campusAn advisor will provide you with form(s) and instructions for how to make the change to your calendar year and program. Please note that once you change from BMgt to BBA, you cannot change back.
