CONOCE NUESTRA UNIVERSIDAD, UIMQROO

About

Mexico is a traveler's paradise, crammed with a multitude of opposing identities: desert landscapes, snow-capped volcanoes, ancient ruins, teeming industrialized cities, time-warped colonial towns, glitzy resorts, lonely beaches and an incomparable collection of flora and fauna. While Mexico is ethnically and culturally diverse, with an estimated population of about 106 million, it is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world.

Quintana Roo is one of the 32 states of Mexico. It is located in Southeastern Mexico, on the eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. Quintana Roo is the home of the city of Cancún, the islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres as well as some ancient Maya ruins. The state is frequently hit by severe hurricanes due to its exposed location. Quintana Roo has a tropical wet and dry climate while the island of Cozumel has a tropical mosoon climate. The average temperature is 26°C.

UIMQRoo is a public university, resulting from the fruitful collaboration between the local, state and federal government. The University uses a unique education model to meet the long-standing demand for higher education from the local Maya population. In August 2007, the first generation of students began their undergraduate courses. Together, with the valued support of the surrounding communities and the local authorities, the university is building a strong and stable environment where different approaches to the construction of knowledge can co-exist.
