Pronghorn Athletics has produced national champions and record-setters, Olympians and mentors, all while being at the forefront of regional sport. Our athletic program strives to provide meaningful competitive experiences to prepare our student-athletes for future success and foster a lifetime commitment to wellness.
If you are interested in trying out for a varsity team the best thing you can do is contact the coach early on. Coaches recruit the majority of Pronghorn student athletes prior to the start of the season. However, each varsity team will hold an open try-out in the weeks leading up to their season.
Whether for competition or fun, our sport and recreation facilities give people of all ages and abilities a place to get moving! As a future student of uLethbridge, your student fees give you access to our facilities, virtual fitness classes, Pronghorn Athletics home games, and drop-in fitness programs to help you keep active and healthy throughout the semester.
Organized by the Horns Recreation staff and student employees, the Intramural and Club programs are designed to increase opportunities for active living and social engagement. We require that our student ATs have taken, or to be taking KNES 3350 - Recognition & Care of Athletic Injuries, along with Standard First Aid & BLS CPR. These students are placed with Pronghorn teams to provide on site care to athletes during practices & games, with additional opportunities for practical experience in the clinic setting.
Placements with a Pronghorn team can be used towards an applied study, for course credit. These practical experiences can also be used toward the volunteer hour requirements for Athletic Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, & Medical School applications.
