Meet Your Mentors

Once you accept your offer, you will be assigned a mentor. Mentors are current ULethbridge students who have been in your shoes. They have had a great experience in Lethbridge and want to make sure you do too! They are here to guide, support and assist as you prepare to begin your studies. Not only will they assist you through email, but they will also be leaders and staff at the major events you attend, like Ahead of the Herd and New Student Orientation.

Jodine

Hi! My name is Jodine Robin and I'm a transfer student with a Kinesiology major at the University of Lethbridge! So, like many transfer students, my year of study is a bit of a gray area, but I'm somewhere within my 3rd - 4th year. I moved to Lethbridge over a year ago from Dominica (Caribbean Island), while I have been to other institutions before, U of Lethbridge takes the win for being the most inclusive and student friendly. I'm pretty sure you will feel the same too!

Being from an island, I enjoy going to the beach or river, literally anywhere with water! I also enjoy outdoor activities, especially hiking or driving around to discover a new city as I'm always up for an adventure. In my career, I intend on specializing in Physical Therapy (PT) where I am able to travel for work, at numerous clinics and cities, to help restore function/movement to my patients.

As a mentor, I am always ready to help in any way I can. Tackle everything one moment at a time, you'll surely reach your goal!

Miriam

Hello! My name is Miriam. I am a fourth year psychology and political science major. I am the president of the Black Students’ Association on campus and the secretary of CKI. 

When I am not on campus working, learning or doing club events I love to crochet, listen to music, and watch movies, my current favourite song and movie is Truman Show by Merges and L3GION and Hard Candy with Elliot Page. I’m from the small town of Brooks Alberta - Go Bandits! I enjoy trying different lip combos; my current favourite is Makeup By Mario lip liner Jeff and Glossier black cherry lip balm, it is the perfect cherry cola combo! 

My job as your Student Mentor is to help get you acquainted with the university as well as help you navigate your way through your first year and hopefully help you find your home away from home. For some of you this is the beginning and for some it’s a continuation but to all of you I just want to say I’m proud of you for getting here. Don’t hesitate to reach out and don’t be a stranger!

Hi, y'all!

My name is Theo! I am in my fourth year of studying psychology and neuroscience. Throughout my degree, I have had the chance to participate in researching some very fascinating topics. Which has caused me to grow more and more appreciative of the program and my choice to study it. After I graduate I aspire to become a recruitment officer for the university! If this is not the case, then I plan on continuing my education and applying for a master’s in psychotherapy. 

I decided to study at the University of Lethbridge because they have an astounding neuroscience program. It also helps that I grew up here and got to stay close to my family. As a Lethbridge local, I am your encyclopedia of the best spots for any type of activity in Lethbridge. 

In my free time, I love to cook. I am constantly forcing my friends and family to be my taste testers, but they never seem to complain! I also enjoy reading, macrame, building Lego and going to the gym. 

As your mentor, I will be available to help in any way I can. I am here to respond to inquiries about Lethbridge and  ULethbridge. I hope to be a source that helps your journey into ULethbridge be one of ease. I am very excited to meet and talk with y’all!

Samara

Hi! My name is Samara and I am looking forward to being your mentor this year! I’m in my first year of studying French, and I am hoping to do the education program here at the University of Lethbridge! After graduation (which is clearly not for a while yet), I am hoping to teach in an elementary school somewhere close to home!

Being from Lethbridge, my decision to come to the University of Lethbridge was not only because of the fantastic education program, but it was also heavily influenced by being able to stay with my family. With that being said, I grew up here and can help you find some great places and activities to do!

My favourite things to do in my free time are spending time with my dog, listening to music, going to the gym, and spending time with my friends and family! If you see me around the gym, please come say hi!  I also love waterskiing (although I’m not very good at it), and swimming when the weather is warm!

As a student mentor, my goal is to help you as much as possible when I can, so feel free to reach out if you need anything! I look forward to meeting you all!

Olivia

Hello, everyone! I am a second-year student at the University of Lethbridge, where I go by Olivia Ho. I am working on a double major in Management and Public Health. Being your Student Mentor this year excites me; I aim to help ensure your university experience is less stressful, more pleasant, and more seamless!

I am originally from Ho Chi Minh City (Sài Gòn), where life is hectic, cuisine is excellent, and everyone is constantly ready to have fun. Growing up there, I saw the value of community and how wonderful it is to interact with individuals from many backgrounds. These principles have helped me approach my work as a mentor and my academics.

Why Public Health and Management? Combining these two disciplines provides me with the means to think strategically and compassionately, thereby enabling me to solve issues in a way that contributes to bettering others. I felt a little overwhelmed when I first started university (I'm sure you can understand!). But with the help of encouraging friends and mentors, I found my way, and today, I'm here to help you, too.

Usually, you can find me trekking or making delicious Vietnamese cuisine like phở and bánh xèo (and yes, I would love to share the recipes with you!). Fun fact: Vietnamese cuisine is about balance, a concept I attempt to implement in daily life and academic work.

I, your Student Mentor, can help you with anything from academic direction to life at university to just a friendly chat. Don't hesitate to contact us; let us make this year unforgettable.

Hi! My name is Elda Osorio, and I am a fourth-year psychology major at the University of Lethbridge.  Born and raised in Lethbridge, I chose the University of Lethbridge to stay close to family and because of the school's liberal education philosophy. Here, I was able to try many different classes and disciplines, which eventually led me to add a French and Political Science minor to my degree.

When I am not busy with schoolwork, you can catch me hanging out with friends or reading a book.  You might also see me around campus at club events, as I am the president of the WUSC club and the secretary for the Rotaract club.

If you ever see me walking around campus, feel free to say hi. I am excited to be your student mentor and to help you navigate through university life. I know university can feel daunting at times, but I am ready to help you make this a fun experience.

My name is Sloane. I am from the Piikani Nation, and I am super excited to be your Student Mentor! I am in my second year of studying History with the hope to enter the Education program here at the University of Lethbridge, and a previous Indigenous Student Success Certificate (ISSC) graduate. I chose the University because it has such an inclusive and welcoming community and is super close to home! After graduation I hope to teach at an elementary school close to home or travel to learn more about other cultures/cities around the world!

My favourite things to do in my free time are baking, listening to the music, taking my dog on walks, going on road trips, and spending time with my family and friends!
