The Grove: Outdoor Recreation and Wellness Space
The Grove is part of the R.E.C Rooms initiative

The Grove is envisioned as a welcoming, shared space designed to bring people together. Open to the broader community, it will host outdoor performances, markets, fairs, recreational activities, classes, camps and workshops, creating opportunities for meaningful connection and engagement. By inviting the residents of Lethbridge and surrounding areas to experience the vibrancy of campus life, The Grove will strengthen community ties while fostering a deeper sense of belonging for students.

Thanks to a lead philanthropic gift from the Embark Student Foundation, construction of Phase 1 is now underway, featuring natural landscaping with mature trees and native plants, pathways that follow the land’s contours, furniture and a scenic lookout.

Phase 2 will introduce an outdoor amphitheatre, offering an inviting space for learning, performance and extracurricular activity. Rooted in the belief that community flourishes through shared experiences outdoors, the amphitheatre will encourage creativity, collaboration and connection.

The family and friends of Dr. Dennis Connolly (LLD ’17) are proud to help bring this vision to life through The Dr. Dennis Connolly Amphitheatre. A dedicated champion of students and campus life, Dr. Connolly actively supported initiatives across the University, including Faculty of Fine Arts productions, Pronghorn Athletics, the Supporting Our Students program, multiple scholarships and the PUBlic Professor Series.

His deep commitment to the University of Lethbridge, and the lasting impact he made on students and the broader community, make the amphitheatre a meaningful tribute to recognize his enduring contributions and honour his legacy.

Please consider making a memorial contribution to the Dennis Connolly Amphitheatre Project Campaign, which aims to raise $70,000 by October 2026.
