URSCA 2020 Post-Conference Survey

The 6th annual Undergraduate Research in Science Conference of Alberta (URSCA) was hosted online by the University of Lethbridge on May 25-26, 2020. 114 abstracts were submitted from eight post-secondary institutions from across Alberta and it is estimated that we had close to 220 people in attendance over the two days. This number included presenters, judges, moderators, hosts and guests. Thank you to everyone who attended, please take a few minutes to provide us with your feedback below.

Technology
Zoom was used for all live components, while Moodle was used to house posters and their video descriptions.
Day 1 - Monday
Pre-conference workshops were offered to presenting students to help them familiarize themselves with Zoom and Moodle.
Day 2 - Tuesday
Presentations
This year, poster presentations could be viewed throughout the day by the judges. This was followed up with a scheduled live Q&A with the judges and the presenter. Oral presentations were moderated and had 2 judges assigned. Oral presentations were 10 minutes long followed by a 5 minute Q&A.
What do you think of the time allotted to each poster presentation?
Students were asked to record a video describing their poster. They uploaded the poster and video to Moodle so that the judges could view them prior to the live Q&A session. Poster presenters had a live Q&A session with the judges.
What did you think of the time allotted for each oral presentation?
Students were given 10 minutes to present, followed by 5 minutes for a Q&A.
Overall, I enjoyed URSCA 2020.
