We offer our students the flexibility of an interdisciplinary education, encouraging the exploration of contemporary issues by providing exemplary programs, research opportunities, and facilities. At ULethbridge, the Faculty of Arts & Science is leading the way in helping students succeed. Home to the humanities, sciences, and social sciences, we offer courses for all University of Lethbridge degree programs.

Academic experience and degree options

The Faculty of Arts & Science provides you with the opportunity to develop the skills of critical reading, understanding, interpreting, and explaining — all fundamental tools required for any profession. We also provide you with a high degree of opportunity to interact with faculty members and to cultivate your interests, further enabling you to develop the ability to think and act critically on your own as well as acquire problem-solving skills. Our faculty members are more than teachers. They are at the forefront of their disciplines and are working within evolving bodies of knowledge. They bring their research to the classroom, enabling students to see actual research in action.

We offer three very diverse degree programs: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts & Science, and Bachelor of Science.

Degrees can be achieved and completed in three different ways:

  • By completing all the requirements for the 40-course BA, BASc, or BSc degree program.

  • By completing all the requirements for the BA, BASc, or BSc degree program in combination with another degree program offered by another Faculty or School at the University of Lethbridge; for example, the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Management degree programs.

  • By first completing an approved diploma program at an approved institution and transferring directly into an approved degree program at the University of Lethbridge (please contact the University of Lethbridge for a list of approved diploma programs and institutions).

Liberal education and your future

As a University rooted in liberal education, you will select courses from the humanities, social sciences, and sciences as part of your degree program requirements. As such, you have the opportunity to study many areas of interest even if these areas are not part of your major. You can make your ULethbridge degree exactly that — YOUR degree — individualized to what you want to study.

Working in a variety of disciplines and developing a more rounded perspective will also give you more employment opportunities upon graduation. In the Faculty of Arts & Science, not only will you develop a range of skills useful to employers, but you will also develop a sense of critical thinking and understanding that will help you manoeuvre through all areas of your life. We provide you with the educational background for your long-term needs and success, enabling you to interpret the world around you and to find the answers to your own questions and research interests.
