Undergraduate

The Department offers a major in English for the 40-course Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Arts and Science (BASc) degree programs. Alternatively, you can choose to do a General Major in the Humanities and select English as one of your three streams.

You can also opt for English as your BA major for the Combined BA/BEd or BA/BMgt programs.

The Department also participates in the delivery of Canadian Studies, focusing on developing a deeper appreciation of our Canadian identity across a wide range of disciplines.

As part of this program, you will have the option to complete courses in American Literature, Canadian Literature, Children's Literature, Contemporary Literature, including British and Irish Drama, Literary Theory, Old and Middle English, Postcolonial Studies, Renaissance Literature, Rhetoric, Restoration and Eighteenth-Century Literature, Romanticism, Shakespeare, and Victorian Literature.
