Modern Language Association (MLA)

Image
The English Department uses Modern Language Association (MLA) format for citation and manuscripts. Copies of the newest version of the MLA Handbook are available in the bookstore for purchase or in the University Library reserves.

There are also a number of online MLA citation guides that can be useful for students. Two of the most extensive guides available are:

  • Hacker Handbooks
  • Purdue OWL

Note: there may be instances where course instructors may require additional or modified formatting. In addition, guides are updated regularly so if you are unsure which edition of MLA to use, please contact your professor.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
