Lauren Young
I am a proud graduate of the University of Lethbridge! I earned my Bachelor of Management (Accounting) degree with Great Distinction and subsequently obtained my Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. I currently work as General Manager of Finance at Precon Manufacturing Ltd. in Lethbridge, where I provide financial leadership and support strategic decision-making across the organization. Prior to joining Precon, I spent four years with KPMG, delivering audit and tax services to corporate, personal and not-for-profit clients.
Throughout my time at the University, I enjoyed being actively involved on campus. I served as President of the Accounting Club, was the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta Campus Ambassador, volunteered with the Rotaract Club and participated in many University events, many of which I continue to attend today.
I remain actively engaged with the Dhillon School of Business, frequently volunteering as a panel speaker at student professional development events. Most recently, in May, I participated in the “Business Student for a Day” event, where I shared insights into the life of a CPA with high school students considering the University of Lethbridge and exploring potential careers in business.
Community service and volunteer leadership have also been important parts of my professional and personal life. I currently serve as Treasurer of my community neighbourhood association and as a board member of the Lethbridge Badminton Club. My previous volunteer experience includes serving on the Board and Finance Committee of the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, serving as a board member of the Alberta Sport Development Centre – Southwest and coaching with the Lethbridge Junior Badminton Club for nearly a decade.
As a proud alumni and community volunteer, I would be both honoured and excited to be an ambassador for the University of Lethbridge as a member of the Senate. Thank you again for your consideration.
