Brief Personal Counselling
What is One-on-One Counselling?
One-on-one counselling provides a supportive and confidential space to better understand yourself, work through challenges, and create meaningful change. During your first appointment, your counsellor will review consent with you and provide an opportunity to ask questions or discuss any concerns. The remainder of the session will focus on understanding what brings you to counselling, identifying your needs, and exploring what you hope to gain from your time together. Counselling appointments are 50 minutes in length.
Counselling is different from talking with a friend or family member. It is an intentional and collaborative process with goals that you and your counsellor work toward together. Your counsellor is there to support you, while also helping you explore new perspectives, recognize patterns, develop skills, and gently challenge you.
Meaningful growth can occasionally feel uncomfortable. Some sessions may bring up difficult emotions or leave you with new things to think about after you leave. This is a normal part of exploring experiences and trying new ways of thinking or responding. Counselling isn't about having all the answers right away—it's about actively working toward greater understanding, wellbeing, and meaningful change over time.
