Counselling Groups and Workshops

Groups + Workshops for Fall 2026

What is Group Counselling and is it Right for Me?

Group counselling can be a powerful opportunity for growth, connection, and change. Groups provide a supportive environment to explore shared concerns, develop new perspectives, practice skills, and learn from others with similar experiences. They can also reduce feelings of isolation and help normalize experiences that may otherwise feel difficult to talk about.

Research supports group therapy as an effective form of mental health treatment for many concerns. For some students, connecting with peers and realizing they are not alone can be an important part of the counselling process. Could group counselling be the next step in your wellness journey?

What is a Wellness Workshop?

Wellness Workshops offer a practical, low-barrier way to learn about mental health and build skills to support your wellbeing. These psychoeducational sessions provide evidence-informed information, strategies, and tools that can be applied to everyday challenges. Unlike group counselling, workshops focus on learning and skill development rather than therapeutic processing.

Curious about your mental health or looking for practical tools to support your wellbeing? Join a workshop and add some new skills to your wellness toolkit.

Break Up Bootcamp

Breakup Bootcamp - Group

Who?   Anyone who has ever been in a relationship, friendship, and/or situationship, that didn’t work out- anyone who has ever experienced a broken heart.

What?   An 8-week group exploring the 7 stages of a break-up. This is a group designed to dig deep into the experiences we go through after the end of a relationship including attachment science, boundaries, and emotional regulation. We will come together, not to “rehash” or “vent” about our ex’s, but to examine and make sense of our own thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, following a break-up and exploring the science behind what drives them.

Why? Because, in the words of Amy Chan, “It’s never just about the ex”. Most relationships are not THE ONE, but learning how your brain reacts in love and relationships is essential to discovering what it is you are looking for in a partner, and within yourself. This group will help you to understand the big emotions you might be having at the end of a relationship and learn that those feelings, actually might make sense. Starting to recognize your own patterns in relationships and learning how to set healthy boundaries will help you foster new, healthier relationships with yourself and others.

When:  Fridays at 1:30pm - 3pm, starting October 9, running for 8 weeks.

Where?  In-person at Counselling Services, AH153

Register: Students can email us at counselling.services@uleth.ca or call 403-317-2845

Registration Deadline: Friday Oct 2, 2026

* This is a closed group meaning you must sign up prior to the start date.

** Please note:  Please consider you availability before registering as we kindly ask participants to commit to all the sessions to the best of their ability.
