Upen has done his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and has worked for a multinational company in India as an Engineering Manager for seven years before immigrating to Canada in 2006. At Present, Upen is a successful businessman who owns 5 Dairy Queens, 9 Subways, and a Gas Station at different locations within Canada. Upen started this journey with his wife in 2008, wherein they purchased their first Subway Franchise in Nanton. After which, Upen and his family moved to Lethbridge in 2011 and ran Pizza 73 for the next seven years. Upen has two children who are both alumni of the University of Lethbridge. In April 2016, Upen purchased the Subway located in the food court of the University of Lethbridge. Alongside, Upen also owns six other Subways in Lethbridge. After buying businesses in Lethbridge, he contributed to the university and the Lethbridge community by employing many students and locals. Upen is also actively involved in the Lethbridge community. During COVID, Upen has done some free food drives for the Community and our local Soup Kitchen. Upen has also contributed to and organized events for the Gujarati Community of Lethbridge during their Navratri and Diwali festivities. Upen looks forward to contributing to the Lethbridge and UofL community further by working as a member of the Senate at the University of Lethbridge.
