Suzanne Sjovold
Dr. Suzanne Sjovold is a University of Lethbridge alumna and an intellectual property lawyer, patent agent and trademark agent based in Lethbridge. For nearly two decades, she has advised innovators on the protection and strategic management of their intellectual property assets.
Suzanne earned a B.Sc. in Neuroscience from the University of Lethbridge, followed by a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta. Her scientific background brings a practical understanding of technology and innovation to her legal practice, helping her bridge the often-complex divide between science and law.
A longtime southern Alberta resident, Suzanne has deep ties to the University and the community. Her mother, Dr. Shirley DeBow, served as Chancellor from 2003 to 2007, and Suzanne is proud to continue her family’s tradition of service to the University through her role on Senate. During her free time, Suzanne spends time downhill skiing and mountain biking in the Rockies with her husband Travis and their two teenage daughters.
